We are one of the few who do
Water-based screen printing
Instead of plastisol, we recommend using water-based or hybrid inks for screen printing. Water-based inks do not require any chemical reagents for cleaning during production; simple water is sufficient. Moreover, water-based inks do not contain plastics, phthalates, or other harmful heavy compounds. In short, these printing methods are more environmentally friendly than, for example, plastisol inks.
Water-based inks are durable because they penetrate the fibers of the material, making them resistant to washing and external factors. Unlike many other techniques, no chemicals are needed for thinning or cleaning these inks during production. Additionally, they are biodegradable, making them an eco-friendly choice that lasts for years. Over 50% of our production relies on water-based or hybrid inks in screen printing.
Water-based inks in screen printing are an ecological and durable choice, combining high quality with environmental care. They allow the creation of products that are aesthetic, functional, and friendly to both users and the planet. Adopting this technology can elevate production standards in the spirit of sustainable development.
Why water-based inks?
Water-based inks are exceptionally durable because they penetrate directly into the fibers of the material, rather than forming a layer on their surface as plastisol does. This makes prints created with this method resistant to washing, abrasion, and other external factors. Such printing techniques ensure that garments retain their quality and aesthetics for a long time.
Ecology in every aspect
Water-based inks are not only more environmentally friendly due to their biodegradability but also eliminate the need for toxic solvents and chemicals in the production process. This reduces the emission of harmful substances into the environment, positively impacting water and air conservation. By choosing water-based screen printing, we help reduce the negative impact on ecosystems.
User comfort
Prints made with water-based inks are more breathable compared to those using plastisol. This preserves the fabric’s natural flexibility and breathability, which is especially important for sportswear or everyday clothing. The lack of stiffness or noticeable print layers enhances wearing comfort, something end users particularly appreciate.
At Print Union, we use only environmentally friendly inks
that do not contain heavy metals or phthalates.
